French electronic music duo AIR is gearing up to deliver a monumental outdoor performance at Halifax Piece Hall, marking a significant addition to their ‘Moon Safari’ UK tour. Set to take place on June 26, this show is a part of the TX Maxx presents Live at The Piece Hall 2024 series, which spans from June 7 to August 24. The upcoming event at the historic Yorkshire venue is anticipated to be an unforgettable evening, inviting both longstanding fans and newcomers to commemorate the iconic ‘Moon Safari’ album.
Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel of AIR are poised to join a prestigious roster of summer headliners at The Piece Hall, including Grace Jones, Fatboy Slim, IDLES, Richard Ashcroft, Loyle Carner, Pixies, Nile Rodgers & Chic, among others. The venue’s stunning open-air courtyard is the ideal setting for the duo’s dreamy soundscapes.
Nicky Chance-Thompson MBE DL, CEO of The Piece Hall Trust, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, underlining the enduring appeal of ‘Moon Safari’. “It’s such an iconic album… What a joy it will be to hear it performed in full in our beautiful courtyard,” she stated, predicting a show filled with emotional resonance and nostalgia.
Tickets for this much-anticipated headline event will be available starting February 16 at 9 am GMT. This presents a unique chance for fans to experience AIR performing ‘Moon Safari’ in its entirety for the first time in the album’s history. Celebrating 25 years since its debut, ‘Moon Safari’ has cemented its status as a cult classic, beloved for its fusion of downtempo elements and chanson française, with standout tracks like ‘Sexy Boy’, ‘All I Need’, and ‘La Femme d’Argent’.
The tour commences in Geneva on February 24, initiating a string of performances across Europe that includes stops in Milan, Vienna, Antwerp, and more, concluding with a performance at Medastadt Open Air in Austria on July 23. London enthusiasts can look forward to three special gigs, including a night at the London Coliseum on March 24, followed by two back-to-back nights at the Royal Albert Hall on May 30 and 31.
Following the announcement of a 25th-anniversary vinyl reissue of ‘Moon Safari’ and the 20th anniversary of their 2001 follow-up, ’10 000Hz Legend’, last year, AIR continues to celebrate their musical journey. Their most recent studio album, ‘Le Voyage Dans La Lune’, was released in 2012, adding to their repertoire of groundbreaking music.
The Halifax Piece Hall performance is set to be a standout event of the summer, providing fans with the rare opportunity to experience ‘Moon Safari’ live in a setting as enchanting as the music itself. With excitement mounting, fans are urged to act quickly to secure their tickets for an electrifying evening of music and reminiscence.
