Josh Brolin’s Poetic Take on ‘Dune’ Cast and Behind-The-Scenes

Josh Brolin, known for his compelling portrayal of Gurney Halleck in the cinematic adaptation of “Dune,” has ventured into a creative collaboration that brings a new layer of depth to the film’s universe. In partnership with the film’s cinematographer Greg Fraser, Brolin contributes to a unique behind-the-scenes look at “Dune” through a forthcoming coffee table book titled “Dune: Exposures,” set to release on February 13. This book promises to intertwine Fraser’s candid on-set photography with Brolin’s eclectic writing, which spans from reflective prose to engaging poetry.

According to Variety, “Dune: Exposures” is not just another behind-the-scenes book. It offers an intimate glimpse into the making of the film, enriched by Brolin’s diverse literary expressions. His writings are described as “tonally different,” capturing the essence of the “Dune” experience through various forms, including dialogue, descriptive prose, and notably, poetry. One of Brolin’s poems pays homage to Timothée Chalamet’s character, Paul Atreides, paired with a striking close-up photo of Chalamet that adds visual depth to the poetic tribute.

Fraser, whose photographic eye has captured the vast landscapes and intricate character moments of “Dune,” lauds Brolin’s contributions for adding meaningful context to his images. Brolin’s affection for haikus and his reflective musings on the contrast between reality and fiction are anticipated to offer readers a profound connection to the “Dune” narrative beyond the screen.

“Dune: Exposures” emerges at a time when fans are eagerly awaiting the release of “Dune: Part Two,” now slated for March 1, after a delay from its initial Thanksgiving release. This book serves as a bridge, providing enthusiasts with an artistic interpretation of the film’s creation and the relationships formed amidst the deserts of Arrakis.
